Frank Bartholomew

Hello my name is Frank Bartholomew, I am 33 years old. I was born and raised in North Philadelphia. Growing up

I lived with my grandparents until the age of 9 when I moved in with my Mom and Dad. My childhood had many ups and downs,

but through it all I was very close with my sister. We formed a bond that was unbreakable, I always felt the need to

protect her. When I was 10 years old my mother and father seperated and that's when I began to experiment with drugs and

alcohol. The first drug I ever used was PCP at the age of 10. My abuse quickly spiraled out of control, trying each and

every drug I could get my hands on. At the age of 21 I witnessed my mother being murdered by my step father and that's

when I got into the drugs more heavily. The last 5 years I was addicted to heroin and crack cocaine. It took me down a very

dark path, leading me into jails and homelessness. Like I said before me and my sister were very close, but she had to

let me go when she realized that I put the drugs before her and her children. I was living under the Emerald Street bridge

in Kensington for 4 years before I hit a bottom. I realized that I needed help and I was not sure where to turn.

I reached out to my sister, who had written me off for dead and said I desperately needed help. I had come to a

point where I was ready to surrender and give up the drugs. My sister made a few phone calls and put me in touch with

a man from the church who had been through Shall Never Thirst Ministries. He in turn got me in contact with Chuck Miller,

the Pastor of the Ministry. After speaking to Chuck I was accepted into Shall Never Thirst, in April of 2018. Before

coming into the ministry I was not sure about Christianity, but that all changed very quickly. Through the love and

compassion of my Pastor and the brothers I was able to see the love of Jesus. I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior in

May of 2018. I was then baptized by Pastor Chuck a few short weeks after becoming saved at a Jesus Christ block party in

Philadelphia. Since coming to Shall Never Thirst I have learned many things about my Savior, from his life to his death

on the cross. I know today that Jesus died for my sins and that I am loved by Him. Since coming to the ministry I have

completed an Intensive Outpatient Program. The Lord has blessed me with reconciliation with my sister and my niece and

nephews, as well as my father. I never believed these things could happen and in my own strength they never would have

been possible. I give thanks to Jesus and his unending love, grace, and mercy.

I have future plans while still continuing my walk as well as being involved in Shall Never Thirst. I will be

attending school to complete my GED, which is something I have been wanting to do for a very long time. One of my goals

is to one day open up my own ministry so I can give back what was so freely given to me. I find great joy in being able

to help someone who is in the position in which I was once in. This compassion comes from Jesus and Him alone, because

the old me would want nothing to do with someone in need. Since I have been in the ministry I have learned that I can

be a light to others, giving them hope in their hopelessness.
